The pre-cut decal is an unique offering from us to save your effort by cutting each piece of decals out for you. See below to learn how to use these decals.
Pre-cut decals have cut marks around the edges of each piece of decal. If you cannot find these cut marks, then the decals you have are not pre-cut. See out standard (non-cut) decal guide instead.
Preparation
You'll need the following items at hand before you start:
- The decal
- The model
- A bowl with warm water
- A pair of scissors
- A craft knife
- Cotton buds
- A hairdryer
Step 1
Cut a piece of decal off the decal sheet with a scissor. If there are rough edges around the decal, you may want to trim them.
You can also trim the decal if there's something you don't want on this piece of decal, for example, an extra row of battenburg pattern.
Use the craft knife to make a horizontal cut through the door handle.
Step 2
Dip a cotton bud into the water, and use it to wet the surface of the model where this piece of decal will be installed to.
Dip this piece of decal into the warm water for at least 30 seconds for the film to detach from the base paper.
Step 3
Gently slide on the edges of this piece of decal to remove the excessive film. This film can be disposed.
Place the decal sheet next to the model and gently slide the decal onto the model.
At this stage it's normal that the decal will not lie flat on the model surface. Start by sliding the decal to make sure the decal is correctly positioned.
Step 4
Position the hairdriver approximately 15 centimetres away from the model and use it to heat up the decal (no more than 30 seconds each time).
Firmly but carefully press on the decal to let it fully lie flat on the model surface.
Gently press through the decal with a cotton bud if there are any bubbles underneath.
Step 5
Repeat steps 1 to 4 to install all the decals you need on the model. It should be perfectly fine to place a piece of decal on top of another.
Note that some parts, especially bonnets, may require extra trimming.
Leave the model at a place with ventilation for at least 6 hours for the decals to fully dry up.
